Russian govt to finalize bill on foreign IT workers salary Apr–Jun
MOSCOW, Jan 9 (PRIME) -- The Russian government plans to finalize a bill in April–June to decrease the minimum salary threshold for foreign IT specialists’ salaries from 2 million rubles to 1 million rubles, according to the government’s ruling seen Thursday by RIA Novosti’s IT and telecom news portal Digit.ru.
Under the current legislation, Russian employers setting salaries for foreign workers below 2 million rubles are obliged to get special permission to hire foreign employees and meet the quotas for hiring foreign citizens.
In July 2013, the communications ministry proposed to decrease the minimum salary threshold to 700,000 rubles for foreign employees invited to work at technical innovation special economic zones; and to 1 million rubles for specialists planning to work at industrial and tourist special economic zones.
No salary thresholds are now set for foreign specialists working at the Skolkovo high-tech cluster.
